Test Session (Monday, May 11th)

Good afternoon! I wanted to share that we will be hosting our next ISI test session for this season. This test session will be on Monday, May 11th from 5:00-7:45pm. This is the last test session of the season and it is the last one before the ISI Worlds deadline. 

A sign-up sheet is posted on the window to Lauren's office. Skaters should sign-up by Monday, May 4th, if they would like to participate in this session.

A few reminders on how our test sessions work:

• All freestyle and dance tests will happen during these special test sessions. We will no longer do any testing during class time. 

• Using this test session format allows us to celebrate the hard work of our skaters (and their coach) in mastering a new level. 

• Lauren and/or I will sit all tests. In some instances, we may ask others to join a panel that requires additional judges.

• Coaches and parents are welcome to come observe their skater's test.

• Skaters will have a warm-up like what we provide during a competition (approximately 5 minutes).

• Skaters are not required to wear anything specific. Rather, we would like them to be comfortable while testing. 

How does your skater sign-up?

There will be a sign-up sheet on the window outside Lauren’s office for the skater to add their name and what they would like to test to the list. Additionally, we ask that their private lesson coach put their initials by your skater's sign-up indicating they are aware of the intent and in agreement that the skater participates in the test session.

What is the deadline to sign-up for this test session?

Monday, May 4th 

When will the schedule be announced? 

A schedule will be created based on who signs up to participate. I will have a finalized schedule out the evening of Wednesday, May 6th.

What is the cost? 

There are 2 costs associated with testing.

Ice Time

·         Skaters will pay the regular freestyle ice time ($4/15 minutes) at the Pro Shop (punch cards make it cheaper!).

·         Kristan will tell you if you owe for 15 minutes or 30 minutes for the ice times--this is determined based on the number (and level) of the tests the skater may be taking in the test session. 

Test Fee

·       ISI charges us to register each test taken, and we will have some minimal costs associated with hosting a test session. For the upcoming season, we will use the following fee structure:

Freestyle Tests

·         Freestyle 1-3: $10/test

·         Freestyle 4-5: $15/test

·         Freestyle 6-7: $20/test

·         ***Freestyle 8-10 cannot be judged at our rink but can be done by video or at a District or National competition.***

Dance Tests

·         Dutch Waltz through Fiesta Tango will be $5/dance test.

·         Hickory Hoedown through Rocker Foxtrot will be $10/dance test

·         ***Dance 8-10 cannot be judged at our rink but can be done by video or at a District or National competition.***

·         Open Solo Bronze will be $5/test

·         Open Solo Silver will be $10/test

·         Open Solo Gold and Open Solo Platinum will be $15/test

·         Open Solo Diamond will be $20/test

What if we have a conflict but would like a chance to test?

We would likely ask you to wait until the test session schedule for the next season has been finalized. Please communicate any extenuating circumstances for consideration and review. The test session schedule for next season has not been finalized, but will be communicated one it is available.
